My Year In Travel (@british_airways @starbucks)

It has been a good year for me!  I married the most beautiful and amazing woman, so that in and of itself would have made my year.  When added to the amazing experiences I’ve had, particularly with travel, it’s been a fantastic twelve months.

Here’s a list of the places I went this year from our home base in London, UK:

  • many cities in the UK (Bath (where I proposed!), Exmouth, Exeter, York, Manchester, Bristol, Wakefield, Redditch, Greenwich)
  • Oslo, Norway (several times, as I work(ed) for a Norwegian firm (we got acquired))
  • Sandefjord, Norway (for work)
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (where my wife was born and grew up)
  • Hong Kong, China (we extended our Malaysia trip to include HK)
  • Stockholm, Sweden (for work, but I’d been there last year with the wife as well)
  • Amsterdam, Netherlands (twice for work, the 2nd time we took holiday as well)
  • Dammam, Saudi Arabia (for work)
  • Las Vegas, Nevada, USA (for work, and we got legally married there as well!)
  • Tampa, Florida, USA (to visit my parents who live not far outside there)
  • Dubai, UAE (for work)
  • Abu Dhabi, UAE (for work)
  • New York City/Westchester, New York, USA (where I was born and grew up, for my cousin’s wedding)
  • Washington DC, USA (we had our Buddhist wedding there)
  • San Francisco, California, USA (for work)

I’m first in my TripIt network for amount traveled this year (and this doesn’t count non-flight travel):

Trip ItFor reference, 165,856km is more than 4 times around the earth at the equator!

I’ve been collecting a Starbucks mug from many of the places I’ve been:

Given that things will change for work (for the better) I’m not sure how much travel I’ll get to do next year, but I’m looking forward to 2014!
